Starling Preparing for Idalia as Storm Moves Toward Florida

Tropical Storm Idalia is forecast to become a major hurricane before it hits Florida. And we’re taking the proper precautionary steps ahead of time.

The entire Starling leadership team is actively monitoring the situation and will enact emergency plans as directed by local officials.

We will communicate any and all updates through our normal channels. Family members of Starling residents can contact their individual community with questions.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Idalia will soon move north through the Gulf of Mexico, where it will likely strengthen into a powerful hurricane, before coming ashore in Florida midweek.

“The risk continues to increase for life-threatening storm surge and dangerous hurricane-force winds along portions of the west coast of Florida and the Florida Panhandle beginning as early as late Tuesday,” the National Weather Service said in a tweet Monday morning.

During a press conference Monday morning, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis put 46 counties under a State of Emergency. He also announced several other storm preparedness measures.

“This is going to be a major hurricane. It’s going to be a powerful hurricane. And this is absolutely going to impact the state of Florida in many different ways," DeSantis said.
