FIVE-STAR REVIEW

Today marks day 7 since we moved my mother from her single family home, where she lived alone, into Starling at San Jose. This was a big, scary transition for her after 17 years living alone.

We toured a few assisted living communities prior to Starling at San Jose, and left feeling uncomfortable with the idea of leaving my mom in their care.

Starling, on the other hand? From the moment we walked in the door it smelled fresh and clean. We were greeted with a BIG smile from Demri at the front desk, and she introduced us to Amy (who we had been communicating with to set up our tour).

Amy immediately made us feel at home, like we were already a part of the family. She was considerate of my mom’s feelings and asked in advance if there was anything we should avoid discussing in front of mom. She completely tailored the experience to our needs. Amy held our hand every step of the way. I always felt like she was available for me to be able to ask questions, or share and concerns (which there were literally none!).

After a single week a Starling my mom is more energetic, vibrant and healthy than I’ve seen her in decades! She’s making friends with the residents and staff. She’s participating in activities.

Most importantly she’s getting the professional medical support she deserves.

The team at Starling at San Jose are what makes the environment so warm and welcoming. They are the heart and soul of the operation and

Thank you to Flynn for hanging my mom’s TV, and helping her make this feel like home.

Thank you Ana for stopping me in the parking lot and asking how you can help inspire mom to join in activities. You’re doing great!

Thank you to Arenshia, Jessica, Sheila, Cheryl, Frank and the entire nursing staff for providing the highest quality medical care, with compassion. I appreciate their incredible teamwork and communication.

Thank you to the housekeepers who took the time to engage my mom in conversation when you cleaned her apartment. She may not remember your name, but she remembers everything about your kind chat with her!

I know there’s so many more incredible team members to meet (and I apologize if I missed anyone!).

The decision to choose Starling at San Jose as mom’s forever home has already drastically improved her quality of life, and I feel very confident she will live longer and happier than we ever could have prayed for.
