Independent Senior Living Apartments

Married For 61 Years, Couple Finds Second Love in Tallahassee

Married for 61 years, Bob and Phyllis Rogers know they made the right decision by moving to The Grove at Canopy in Tallahassee. The premier new master-planned, senior-living community of the area, Phyllis, 86, and Bob, 85, enjoy the lifestyle that its independent living community has to offer all residents.

“Everything here is very nice and tastefully done,” said Phyllis Rogers, who moved to Tallahassee with her husband from Aiken, S.C.

When the Rogers’ moved to Tallahassee to be closer to family, they found that living in an apartment was isolating.

However, that’s not an issue at The Grove at Canopy. With new friends and all the bases for a complete experience covered, the Rogers’ have found a new zeal for life.

“Everyone here has met all my needs, and the staff is very professional,” Phyllis added.

Both of the Rogers’ enjoy the relaxed pace that the newly-opened Grove at Canopy has to offer from morning to night.

Bob loves his naps after breakfast.

Phyllis, meanwhile, catches up on the television news or reads the newspaper in the morning.

The Michigan natives are treated to a masterpiece during lunch. Gourmet-prepared chicken or roast beef are just two of the options that have been most satisfying.

Activities at The Grove at Canopy, Phyllis said, are plentiful.

If they feel like socializing, there’s an afternoon happy hour and trivia opportunities at the bar.

When they feel like being creative, there’s arts and crafts.

Exercise opportunities are also plentiful with the carefully-designed workout room. There’s also a pool table that is popular on the third floor.

Phyllis also appreciates the aesthetic detail given to The Grove at Canopy. On top of having a luxury lifestyle, she enjoys the abundance of windows and detail placed on the outdoor lawn, with its putting -green precision.

“While we haven’t been here long, we’re having a really enjoyable time,” said Phyllis.

The Rogers’ found The Grove at Canopy with the help of their adult son and daughter, who both live in Tallahassee.

Both recommend The Grove at Canopy for anyone looking for an independent-living, assisted-living or memory care community to call home.
