Tina Wright credits Starling at Nocatee Independent Living with keeping her father youthful.
"Starling is like a fountain of youth. My father gets younger every day. He is so involved. He's so happy living his best life. It just warms my heart to see that he is living his best life, and he's going to be 90 very soon. It's amazing!" she said.
The community has great meaning to her dad, John Scalamandra.
"It's wonderful to hear him call it home. When we're out somewhere, he'll say 'Well, I'm excited to get back home.' And he means Starling. Starling is his home. And that tells the whole story of how happy he is!" she said.

John has lived in the community for nearly two years and enjoys every minute of it.
"I love my apartment. The food here is great. The people are friendly and interesting to talk to," he said.
"I enjoy every day here. And thanks to my daughter, if it wasn't for her, I'd probably still be up in Pennsylvania," he joked.
The family appreciates their dad on Father's Day - and every day - knowing how he has helped shape them into who they are today.
"Dad has taught us unconditional love and the importance of God and family first," Tina said. "And he has always given us unconditional love and support; my sisters and I. I just can't say enough, the values he's instilled in us. I'm just thankful every day for dad."
